About The Lutheran Church of the Resurrection
|
A Brief History of LCRThe Lutheran Church of the Resurrection was initially organized in 1977 with 34 charter member families. Pastor Bob Pierson first met with the families as they sought to organize and form a new congregation. This infant congregation was served during its first year by pastor Bill Perry, who had just left his role as a navy chaplain, and was residing in the Atlanta area. Sunday worship services met in the chapel at Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church until the current building was dedicated on Reformation Sunday in 1980. The congregation "called" its first full-time pastor in December of 1978, Pastor Kent Lang. He served LCR until his retirement in August 1995. We still enjoy 'special appearances' by Reverend Lang from time to time. In October, 2006 LCR celebrated the installation of Reverend David Helfrich.
