- Suzanne Demosthenes (Council Secretary) — Charles and Suzanne have been
married 26 years and been members of LCR for 20 years. Their two
daughters Anna and Lori are each out of state in college. Suzanne
practices medicine as an internist in Marietta. She co-taught Sunday
School for 15 years and participates on the fellowship and mutual
ministries teams. This past year she has participated in a Kingdom
Builders small group. "LCR acts as both an anchor and stimulus in my
life. This church is a family of energetic people. Empowered by God's
grace and spirit, we are poised to begin a faith journey that I think
can summon all that we can be. I feel privileged to be part of that."

Dean
Ely - Dean and family; wife Robin, daughter Pamela (lives in
PA), sons Ryan (lives in Atlanta) and Samuel (Colgate University) joined
LCR in 1996 after moving to Marietta from their hometown of
Williamsport, PA. They were introduced to LCR by Nick and Susan Tupper.
Dean grew up in the Lutheran church (St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran
Church, Jersey Shore, PA). At LCR, Dean enjoys teaching high school
Sunday school and playing on the LCR basketball team, and he looks
forward to working with the Small Groups program while on council. Dean
works for IBM within their software sales group.
- Dan Gilroy (Council President) — Dan is married to Kathi and they have 3 children and 5 grandchildren.
Dan and Kathi have been members of LCR for 17 years. Dan has been
with the Kellog Comapany for 21 years, and is a Director of team sales.
Dan has served on the nominating team, ushered, led the Hunger walk effort, worked with the youth, participated in special services and active in a men's
accountability group. Dan was a member of the team that sponsored, developed and facilitated the
Growing in Leadership program at LCR.
Dan believes he has been called as a leader at LCR and especially his current role as President. His decision making is based on the LCR vision of deepening relationships
with Jesus Christ by Knowing, Growing and Going. He is both proud and excited to serve the congregation.
- Julie Johnson — Julie and her sons, Lucas and Alex,
have been members of LCR for 16 years. She is a Strategic and Quality
Learning Consultant at WellStar Health System. Julie enjoyed getting
involved with her children by teaching Sunday school starting with
preschoolers but has since graduated to 5th and 6th graders. She has
also lent a helping hand with Christmas programs, Vacation Bible school,
Circle of Friends and different opportunities to volunteer. From the
Leadership Program she deepened her understanding of faith and the
vision of LCR. She is excited to be a part of the "go and do" atmosphere
at LCR and wants to grow personally in her hope and faith in her
relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Richard Leon — Richard is married to Sharon; they
have a teenage son Andre, a sophomore at Wheeler High School. The Leons
moved to East Cobb from New Jersey summer 2007 and enjoy worshiping and
fellowship at LCR. Richard has been an active participant in the
Lutheranch pledge drive, Men’s Bible Study Group, and is a contributor
to a committee to improve communication at LCR. Richard feels privileged
to be part of LCR’s distinguished council as it continues it’s 2009
vision and goals.
- John Mellott — John is married to Suzy and they
have three daughters: Sarah, Jenny and Betsy. They have been members of
LCR since 1996. John has been a senior executive with Cox Enterprises
since 1987, serving most recently as Publisher of the Atlanta Journal
Constitution. This is John's first opportunity to serve LCR in an
official capacity. He is excited about LCR's vision for growth and is
personally excited about being a part of our wonderful future.

Chris
Osberg (Youth Rep) – Chris was invited to attend church by Jess
Rigby. Chris moved around through many churches before arriving at LCR.
Chris attends with his parents John and Susan and has lived in Atlanta
for 13 years. Chris attends Mount Vernon Presbyterian and is currently a
junior. He likes to play guitar and plays in the Praise Team during the
11:00 service. Chris also enjoys playing hockey and plays for Lassiter
high school. He looks forward to learning more about the church and how
it works from the inside out.
- Jennifer Rigby — Jennifer is married to Walter Cronk; she has two children, Jess and Nicole, and two stepdaughters Alanna and Glori.
Jennifer is a Senior Consultant with L.A.-based SmithGeiger Company, a television news, marketing and consultancy. Jennifer has been a member of LCR for nearly eight years.
Over the years, she has enjoyed teaching Sunday School to 7th and 8th graders and says that the Leadership Program that she participated in several years ago helped to deepen her faith and
strengthened her connection to LCR. Jennifer says that she is excited by the energy and optimism in the congregation and its desire to reach out to the community, while at the
same time challenging people to grow personally in their faith.
- Donald Schaet — Don has been a member of LCR since
2000. He has been a lay reader and a children's homilist for both
services for a number of years. He taught the Wednesday-night
confirmation class for a half semester and co-taught Youth Sunday School
classes for two years. He has been a member of the Wednesday morning
men's group since shortly after its beginning. Don has three grown
children each of whom have had three children. Don and his wife, Gail,
have one child, Claire, whom they adopted from Paraguay as an infant 16
years ago. Gail and Claire are members of Temple Kol Emeth.

Tony
Stephens (Vice President) – Tony is married to Alyson and they
have been members at LCR for four years. They were the first couple to
be married by Pastor Dave in LCR and that is something they will always
cherish. Tony is originally from St. Paul, MN but has called Georgia
home since 2001. He works for Georgia MLS (Multiple Listing Service)
and is part of the Marketing and Sales team. Tony and Alyson have
participated in the Kingdom Builders Group program at LCR and Tony is
part of an usher team. While searching for a home church back in 2006,
they found LCR on the ECLA website and have called LCR their home church
since their first visit. This is Tony’s first opportunity to serve on
LCR Council and he could not be more thrilled with the opportunity.
- John Whetstone — John and Miriam have been married for 41 years. They have two daughters - Michele and
their 10 year old grandson Alex live in Jacksonville, and Kathy lives in Charlotte. John retired in 2007 from
his Sales Manager position at US Banking Alliance, where they helped community banks to improve their loan and deposit pricing.
The Whetstones have been LCR members for 30 years. Twice counsel president and a member of numerous committees, John’s passion is Evangelism, where he is currently team leader. John and Miriam have availed themselves of the many educational opportunities and bible studies over the years, lessons from which they employed in parenting skills and business life. John continues to enjoy the Wednesday morning men’s bible study. The group has initiated many worthwhile activities in and outside of church. John feels privileged to have gone on several mission trips and work on other church related projects. I also enjoy working with Circle of Friends and Shepherds Staff. John’s other passion is educating men and their families about Prostate Cancer, and he is on the Board of the Georgia Prostate Cancer Coalition.
