Confirmation Ministry At LCRConfirmation in the Lutheran church flows from baptism, and our whole congregation assumes the responsibility of encouraging and supporting our youth in the confirmation process. Confirmation education at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection is a two year program that includes classes, an annual confirmation retreat, and scheduled participation as acolytes and Communion Assistants in the worship life of the Church. Confirmation classes are open to baptized youth in 7th and 8th grades – or older baptized youth who have not been confirmed and would like to pursue their spiritual education in the Lutheran church. Confirmation classes are held in the Youth Pavilion on Wednesday nights from 7:00 – 8:00pm during the school year. Confirmation classes are taught by the Pastor. Adult volunteer mentors attend each class and guide the small group discussions, and share in weekly highs-and-lows and prayers. Attendance at Sunday School classes on Sunday mornings is expected. Sunday School is held during the education hour, beginning at 9:45am. Confirmation Day is a public celebration of the learning and commitment of the young people who have completed this two year program. On the Day of Confirmation each youth is given a Scripture verse that has been selected for them with the intention that they will continue to be a vibrant part of the life of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection.
