LCR and Heifer International
Heifer
International is an organization that offers people in Third World
Countries and depressed areas around the world the opportunity to maintain
their own sustenance via the gifting of animals and crops and the
associated training.
Heifer animals offer hungry families around the world a way to feed
themselves and become self-reliant. Children receive nutritious milk or
eggs; families earn income for school, health care and better housing;
communities go beyond meeting immediate needs to fulfilling dreams.
Farmers learn sustainable, environmentally sound agricultural techniques.
Heifer’s main concept is that each recipient must pass on to others
some of the offspring of the farm animals they receive. This principle,
called “passing on the gift,” assures that each participant in the program
becomes a donor, enhancing dignity and participation in each project.
Passing on the gift also helps communities to become self-sustaining.

Come To HIM! Heifer International Marketplace
Saturday 12:00 noon - 4:00pm November 2007
Date to be announced
This carnival-like event will offer the opportunity to buy an animal
(or a share of an animal) in honor of a friend or relative. There will be
tons of fun activities for both kids and adults – including exciting
learning opportunities, a kids’ songfest, games, chances, a
playground-size ark, delicious food, the famous heifer, Maggie Moo, and
her ice cream and even an opportunity to pose with Maggie Moo and have
your picture snapped. Don’t forget to bring your pets for the Blessing of
the Animals. This will be an afternoon filled with music,
creativity, and a chance to help disadvantaged people around the world
help themselves.

LCR's Playground Ark was built for a Heifer International Marketplace!
The goal of LCR’s Heifer International Marketplace is to raise $5,000
to buy an ark filled with animals through Heifer International. We have
nine animals or shares of animals available for purchase which will be
distributed to third-world countries to help promote self-reliance. From
the warming wool from sheep to the nutritious milk of a cow, Heifer
animals are helping the needs of others. Just in time for the holidays,
you can “buy” an animal in honor of a friend or relative. The recipient of
your gift will receive a beautiful card describing the gift of hope being
given in his or her name. So come out to Heifer International Marketplace,
do your Christmas shopping early AND support a good cause!
